Vintage video game hardware, arcade games, celebrity speakers, pinball, trivia, tournaments, music and more all converge at the Oregon Convention Center on October 5th & 6th: It’s time for Portland Retro Gaming Expo 2013!
Ground Kontrol is once again teaming up with PRGE! Want to help make Oregon’s best video game show even better? Sign up to be a volunteer, or contribute games from your personal collection to the Supercade – a 20,000 square foot gaming area featuring a wide range of video games and pinball tables on free play. Portland Retro Gaming Expo volunteers get free admission for the entire weekend and a special PRGE volunteer t-shirt!
Know your way around a hand truck or a control panel? There are a lot of roles to fill at PRGE’s Supercade – you can help transport games to and from the show, help with minor game issues and generally be a friendly neighborhood arcade attendant!
Game Movers: We’ll be picking up games on Thursday Oct. 3, arranging them in the convention hall on Friday Oct. 4, and returning them to their owners on Monday Oct. 7. While moving arcade games is hard work, this is also a great opportunity to learn more about arcade and pinball machines and we’ll provide transportation and meals during your shift(s), in addition to the standard PRGE volunteer benefits!
Supercade Attendants: We’ll also need volunteers to help keep the Supercade running smoothly. Depending on your level of experience, you could help make minor game fixes, report game issues, and ensure the games are being treated well. Supercade volunteers will also get opportunities to see how arcade games and pinball machines are repaired – it’s a unique chance to dig deeper into retro gaming and you’ll earn PRGE volunteer benefits, too!
If you’d like to sign up, just fill out the PRGE volunteer registration form, select “Supercade” and give us an idea of what arcade experience you’ve got. List anything and everything that will help us get an idea of your strengths, in addition to your availability on 10/3, 10/4 and 10/5 through 10/7.
If you’re an arcade or pinball collector, you can loan your games to the Supercade! Game contributors can earn free passes for them and their friends or family, in addition to exhibitor space on the floor. This is a great opportunity to promote your video game or arcade-related business and get some friends in on the fun. If you’re looking to sell your game, PRGE won’t charge a commission – just make sure it’s available to play all weekend! Get the full run down on how to contribute your game (and the general requirements) at the PRGE arcade game contribution page.
If you know any game collectors or arcade wizards that may be interested in contributing, please share this post with them!
Thanks for your support – we’re looking forward to seeing you at PRGE 2013!
