Super Smash Bros. Ultimate Tournament at The Hoxton Portland

One year to the day, Ground Kontrol returns to The Hoxton, Portland with an evening of Super Smash Bros. in The Apartment. Join us on Tuesday, October 29th for a Super Smash Bros. Ultimate tournament and costume contest, starting with casual warm-up matches at 5pm and registration for the tournament at 6pm, which will be capped at 32 registered players and scheduled to begin at 7pm sharp.
Registration is first come, first served and begins in The Apartment at 6pm, so make sure to check in early for a guaranteed spot in the tournament! RSVPing on Eventbrite does NOT register you for the tournament (allows priority on-site tournament registration at 6pm), and you must be 21 or older to register. Spectators who are 21 or older are welcome to join the party, play casual matches on our extra set-ups, and participate in a costume contest that we’ll be judging around 10pm!
The magic starts at 5pm in the and goes ’til 11pm. Drinks for hire, nibbles by us!
Tournament Rules:
Super Smash Bros. Ultimate
– 1v1 double elimination bracket.
– 3 stock, 7 minute time limit.
– Best 2/3 games, 3/5 games during finals.
– Items, stage hazards, and Final Smash meters off.
– Rock-Paper-Scissors for stage selection. Stages: Final Destination, Battlefield, Smashville, Town and City, Pokémon Stadium 2, Lylat Cruise, Kalos Pokémon, Yoshi’s Island, Yoshi’s Story, Unova Pokémon League.
– Loser may switch character and select the next stage.
– If time runs out, the winner is determined by how many stocks remain, and then by percentage. If both players’ stock and percentage are the same, or a game ends in both players losing their last stock at the same time, then a tiebreaker is played. Tiebreaker matches are played with 1 stock and 3 minute time limits with the same characters and same stage.
Tournament Prizes:
1st prize = $250 + 1 room night at The Hoxton, Portland + $100 food and drink credit
2nd prize = $150 + 1 room night at The Hoxton, Portland + $50 food and drink credit
3rd prize = $50 + $50 food and drink credit
