High Score Hall of Fame

Think you have what it takes to be in the Ground Kontrol Hall of Fame? Test your might in the monthly high score challenge and prove to the world that you belong in the arcade record books.

Every month, we are selecting one pinball machine and one arcade game for players to duke it out on. The highest score recorded before the calendar changes gets their initials saved forever in our very own Hall of Fame. To enter each month’s competition, post a picture of your score in a public post on Facebook, Instagram, or Twitter with the following specifications

  • The text in your post must include your 3-character initials if the game doesn’t give you the opportunity to enter your initials.
  • Your photo must include the orange #groundkontrolhof signage posted on the game during the month it is featured. Only scores achieved and posted during the featured game’s month will be considered valid submissions.
  • Your post must include “#groundkontrolhof” so that we can find it!

You don’t have to get a record-breaking high score to win – we’re specifically looking for the highest score *submitted* during the featured month. The two winners each month will receive unique prizes and most importantly, permanent bragging rights! Additionally, we’re also awarding points for each submission that will accumulate over the course of the year to determine the overall top ranked high score hall of fame champions, who will be receiving extra special prizes after the end of the calendar year. The point breakdown for each month’s featured arcade game or pinball machine submissions is as follows:

  • 1st place score – 10 points
  • 2nd place score – 5 points
  • 3rd place score – 3 points
  • Monthly participation – 1 point

For example, if player “ABC” submits the 2nd highest score for January’s featured arcade game in 2020 (Dig Dug) and the 3rd highest score for January’s featured pinball machine in 2020 (Lord of the Rings), they will receive 8 points for the year’s overall leaderboard. If player “XYZ” submits the #1 highest score for Donkey Kong Jr. and a score that doesn’t end up in the top 3 scores for Total Nuclear Annihilation in January, they will receive 11 points (10 for 1st place in DK Jr. + 1 for submitting a TNA score). It’s important to remember that even if you’re not confident at playing both of each month’s featured games, you can still get some points by participating — you might also end up discovering your next favorite classic game!

Keep in mind that you can submit as many scores as you’d like during any given month  — we’ll only count your best valid score submitted before the end of the month. Please reach out to our high score keeper Dylan at dylans@groundkontrol.com if you have any questions or concerns. Finally… good luck and have fun!
